Complex Reading Recommendation(s)

Hey All,

I am new to the site and was hoping I could get some help :)

I have a very... extensive yet at the same time restrictive taste in books and have trouble getting good recommendations.

The things I do not like in books are 1) excessive swearing/crude/vulgar language, 2) explicit sex "scenes" and 3) dark magic.

The type of books I do like are:
Family Sagas (multiple books covering the lives of family members. Sometimes multiple generations)
Science Fiction
Historical Fiction
Stories that are romantic however the main focus of the story is not romance.
Some fantasy

Some books and book series I have REALLY enjoyed include:
Clifton Chronicles (Jeffery Archer. Basically anything Jeffery Archer I really like)
The Century Trilogy (Ken Follett. Only thing I could have done without were the explicit sex scenes)
The Dune Series (Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert, Kevin J, Anderson. I actually much prefer the sons work to the father's)
Irish Country Doctor (Patrick Taylor. Really like the humor in this one)
Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card)
Shattered Sea Series (Joe Ambercrombie)

Thoughts? I would love to hear your suggestions :)

Thanks!

You might like Frank Mccourt's tetralogy starting with "Angela's Ashes" it's a family saga with lots of history in the background :)

Have you read Ready Player One? It's my favorite Sci Fi. As are Dark Matter and Recursion, both by Blake Crouch.

Oh, also, An Absolutely Remarkable Think by Hank Green might be up your alley?

Cicada Summer by Kate Constable. It's a 'kids book' but it's great, looks at family and friend dynamics with a bit of a fantasy and romance back drop.

If you want a book relating to prisoner of war/ historical, i recommend Slaughterhouse-five by Kurt Vonnegut.
At first glance it seem really confusing but once you understand the symbols etc, its really interesting and a greatly written.

Hi.
I'm new to the site, but your plea struck a chord.
The best Sci-fi book I've read is 'The Left Hand of Darkness' by Ursula Le Guin. Complex, with lots of food for thought, and brilliant. 'Flowers for Algernon' by Daniel Keyes is also good.
