Good evening guys,

I have a friend who is always complaining that every detective story is predictable and after reading a few pages she already knows how the book ends. So I would like to ask for a recommandation for a detective novel that is goood and also isn't so predictable. Is there such a book? I have no idea because I came here.

Does she find Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle too easy?

I would recommend any Dick Francis novel. They aren't 100% detective stories but definitely "detectivesque", in the sense that something criminal happens and an unwilling person (usually a jockey) is dragged into finding the guilty parties.

Has she tried Scandi crime? The Wallender series is quite accessible and I like Viktor Arnar Ingolfsson's House of Evidence.

The crucifix killer by Chris Carter. It was a lovely reading experience. I couldn't stop reading till I found out who the real killer was.

I have recently read The opening night murders by James Scott Byrnside and it was honestly a great book. He also has another book of the same genre and maybe you'd be interested to check out his books.
