If you haven't read any of his work, I would start with a short story compilation entitled "East, West: Stories". It is a good introduction to him and how he writes. After that, you can get into some of his more complicated work: I thoroughly enjoyed his newest book ("Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights: A Novel") as well as a couple of his older works ("Fury" and "Grime" were excellent). Another great introduction into him, if children's stories don't turn you away, is "Haroum and the Sea of Stories". It is a really good first step into Rushdie, but understandable so due to the audience, may not hit the mark for the 'prose' you are looking for.Mark Johnson wrote:Thank you Scerakor, I will look into Salman Rushdie. That is interesting about the prose in Moby Dick, I have not read the book yet. Any particular works by Salman Rushdie that you recommend? Thanks again Scerakor I appreciate it.
Good luck!
