Supernatural/Paranormal Romance

Post by dragonet07 »

I'm thinking of writing a very specific genre for one of the book ideas I have but first I need to read some like it. I don't dabble much in this genre anymore so I need some recommendations of good books in that genre. I'm looking for supernatural/paranormal books with romance in them. I'm not talking about books like Twilight but something a little more blood-pumping and dark. I don't know if this will make any sense but I'm thinking along the lines of American Horror Story: Freakshow with a stronger romantic element to it. If this helps at all, I'm a fan of Edgar Allen Poe as well as Neil Gaiman's Stardust. I'd also prefer something set in modern times, or at least World War II and later.

Any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

You can read Deborah Harkness' book entitled "A Discovery of Witches."

This is one of my favorite genre of books, but it's so difficult to find ones I particularly enjoy.
"Bride" by Ali Hazelwood: Arranged marriage between a vampire and an alpha werewolf, I love almost all of Ali Hazelwood's books but this is my absolute favorite
"Hot Blooded" by Heather Guerre (it says it is in a series, but this is a standalone book): Our main character is human and is paired with a vampire through a blood donor agency (I HIGHLY suspect this was a twilight fanfiction originally, if you read it you'll know why)

NOT STANDALONES but I love the "Leveling Up"/"Magical Midlife" series by K.F. Breene, it's absolutely hysterical, has a bit of spice, and super paranormal. In general, K.F. Breene writes a lot of paranormal romance series but they are hit or miss for me. I either ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM or cannot stand them, they do have that "moving the goal post" part of them that can be frustrating in some series.

I absolutely love Christine Feehan. She is amazing, and Paranormal Romance is her thing. I believe if you want something steamy and has you on the edge of your seat, then her books are for you! :D
