I'm trying to find a new series with the above mentioned in the subject line. I have read Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews and Kristen Painter. I am also trying to avoid smutty ones if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater. That's werewolves. It's YA so not smutty, it's more fluffy
The romance isn't the whole plot but it's the main vein.

Oh thank you Gingerbo0ks, I've been trying to find decent books in these areas but it can be slim pickings at times. I will have to check this series out.

For urban fantasy lovers, I can't recommend Seanan McGuire's Toby Daye series enough.
It's fae though, so may not be to your liking.

I would definitely recommend the prequel series, The Infernal Devices. Maybe after reading the first few of the mortal instruments though. If you like romance, you will like it. I liked the characters, the tragedy, the twists in the story, and the relationship between Will and Jem, and Will and Tessa. I also liked how it was set in the past, in creepy, old London. It had a "steampunk" vibe to it.

Hi Gravy, I like fae books as well. I will have to check this series out. I know I can look up the book myself (which I will do all the same) but could you tell me a little bit of why you like the series or author so much? Some times it is good to hear from those you have already read the work. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Gravy!!

I have read the first few of the Mortal Instruments but it has been a long time. Old London with a bit of a steampunk vibe sounds very interesting. I do remember the tragedy aspect with of course is rather depressing but sounds like it's well worth a read. Thank you again Gingerbo0ks!!

Okay. I will try to do this.

I must first say that I read pretty much everything she writes. This includes what she writes as Seanan Mcguire, but also what she writes under her pen name, Mira Grant. I enjoy them to varying degrees, but have enjoyed everything so far. Admittedly, I would probably say that her Toby Daye series is my favorite, but I have a weird thing for fairies, so this series seriously reads like it was written with me in mind.

Toby "October" Daye is a strong female lead, who only gets stronger as the series progresses. Her band of misfits are all so amazing. I am reluctant to actually list any, as some would be a bit spoilery, but they are some of my favorite characters, and I could read entire series with them as the focus.

The overall storyline is so vast, but every book contains a fully satisfying story, while still moving the full story forward. I actually can't think of another series I've found to be as consistant, book-to-book, as this one.

However, I'm sure that I am biased.

One last thing. If you enjoy portal fantasies, her Wayward Children series is a must.

I could list at least a dozen more urban fantasy series, but Toby is my default suggestion.

I'm intrigued by this Toby series now Gravy!
