Science Fiction and Horror lover

Hello everyone!

I'm Effie and I just found out this site. I'm a sci-fi lover, especially space opera (Dune and The Expanse series are two of my most favourite), and I'd love some recomendations cause I have a huge to-read list and need to start from somewhere.

I also love horror books, but things are getting hard here. I'm not easily scared. I find vampires, werewolves , ghosts and zombies boring. Splater does not interest me, but it doesn't make me sick either. I believe human beings are the scariest things on earth. I prefere atmospheric psychological horror with well-built characters.

Please have in mind that any type of racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism makes me sick, and therefore make me hate the book immediately. Also, I prefere books with as less romance as possible, especially the science fiction ones.

Thank you all in advance!!

So, for science fiction I would recommend “Drone Rising” by Kyle Johnson. I am currently reading the third part and really enjoying it.
I can’t really help you with horror. My usual suggestion is “Nullform” by Dem Mikhailov but that contains a lot of the topics you don’t enjoy.

Still, I hope my science fiction recommendation helps you 😁

You might enjoy Drunk on All Your Strange New Words by Eddie Robson. It’s a space sci-fi mixed with murder mystery/suspense.
