Icon Sci-Fi/Action/Thriller/Romance... what?!

Post by MikeNessMonster »

So I’m seriously hoping that this sort of novel exists and I’m just looking in the wrong places. Can anyone give me suggestions on a book that is:

1. A drama, or action adventure theme. Could be Sci-Fi, military, scientific realism, historical or any sort of interesting mix. I love science, explosions, and great action scenes.

2. But I also want a really good romantic subplot built into the action with great character development and emotional depth. It doesn’t even REALLY have to be a romantic novel, just a writer that’s skilled in writing about interpersonal relationships.

For example: I loved Tom Clancy’s Clear and Present Danger in terms of an action thriller... but I wanted all of that plus WAY more about what happened between Moira and Felix. I know Clancy is not by any means a writer of emotion... which leads me to wondering, who’s out there writing stories like these? Action novels never seem to have enough emotion, while romance novels never seem to have enough substance.

Thanks guys!

This is an interesting challenge!

Is horror an option?

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.
