introduction brain spasm

Post by Lutz Barz »

Greetings from Down Under, SW Pacific Rim. This site is less cluttered than others. Won't mention some that I think have morphed from reading and writing sites to general social media. That in itself is good. We need real diversity not just those who repeat the word and demand obeisance to their idiosyncratic whims. That too is OK if they were up front and not come in from behind and deny the other a right to be, well different. I still read, repeats! Got a pile of books and after a few decades forgot I had them, read them and even remembered them. What a surprise. As for writing I get inspired by indie musos who throw real curve balls and wobblies that cause the imagination to flare and flame and illuminate dormant brain cells in my case. Thanking you if you dropped by and didn't pass out on the way to somewhere else.

Welcome Lutz! Good news, I in fact did not pass out. I’m new to OBC too. Just joined last month and so far I’ve been enjoying the site. I’m a reader not a writer. Although I’m the family historian and have uncovered so much of our history including some pretty fascinating stories that I hope someday to craft it all into a book or two. I just started writing reviews and think it’ll be good practice to get me in the habit of putting pen to paper. I enjoy reading historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and biographies. I’ve recent been on a repeat read kick myself except I’m opting for the audio versions this time around with some of my old favorites. Thanks for introducing yourself and I hope OBC works out better for you than some of the other sites have.

Diane, wow an achiever in private that counts. I do reviews and post the short version at Goodreads. That interest is not as easy as writing since one has to pay attention and not drift and mind shift with the brain lagging or shooting ahead and then the mind let's go and the disassociations bifurcate and its a story instead of a review. Seriously misguided me that is. What I found is few writers, recent are any good. Have you noticed in the end how they mew on endlessly thanking three editors, family and friends and cats and dogs and state they could NOT have done the book without them. That sounds like they aren't much chop. Its like early daze when I went to a writing class run by the now defunct WEA and there was this gaggle of the lecturer's acolytes around her and one could not get near her after class as she loved their attention above all the others who I think then just got on with it. Not saying anything new but reading helps writing. Even copying their style. Whereby you grow into your own. Go for it. And stay away from editors ha ha.
