I'm not employed officially as a librarian, because I volunteer for a charity-based local library. That means that I don't get paid and I don't have contracted hours, but completing shifts requires the same duties as any paid librarian. Sorting books, handling loans and all such stuff. I enjoy it so much and it's one of my favourite places to be that it's more recreational than anything

So you get paid in happiness? I tried to use that as currency once, but the electric company didn't appreciate it.ryanj1 wrote:Hi! I hope you enjoy your time on the forum!

Hahaha! Fortunately, I have my parents (for now) to pay the electricity bill so I can continue to be happy. I recently applied to a job, actually. I attended the interview and now I'm just waiting for them to tell me that they don't want meALynnPowers wrote:So you get paid in happiness? i totally relatebradybunch84 wrote:I volunteer in a library. I guess that doesn't make me a librarian. I get to look for all the misfiled books. I love books, so now I get to handle them all the time. I have found interesting books that I would have never picked up because they weren't in my favorite genre. Wow.....this has been an eye opening experience. I'm retired so I have lots of time to be at the library and to read all the books that I am taking home. Don't volunteer for a job like this unless you have time to read at home. It will kill you about all the books out there that you will want to read!
