So, um, hi...

Post by Loretto Taylor »

I'm new. Signed up for the review team because who doesn't love being paid to have an opinion.

Thought I should check out the social side because if I can't stop myself arguing with strangers on the Internet, I can at least argue about things about which reasonable people can disagree.

And read books... I had gotten out of the habit of reading because I got addicted to YouTube (in my defense, I actively seek out long-form content...) and wanted to get back into it. At the same time, I was looking for a part time remote gig to make some egg money, and I stumbled upon this online book club.

I have already submitted my first review. I roasted Disarrhoea by Kevin Wooten pretty hard. Well, maybe not roasted, but pretty well toasted. Nothing like reading what should have great thought provoking stories that make you have to use a chain hoist to suspend disbelief... Actually, three of the stories were downright hilarious because cannibalism is funny if you're doing it right. Two of them had serious storytelling issues but I won't spoil the review.. And one was quite.

I really hadn't expected to wax philosophical, but I picked a science fiction book so I guess I should have. If any genre would have deep philosophical discourse woven into the story, science fiction would be the one.

Well, anyway, hi, and I need to check the discussion forums to see if Disarrhoea is being discussed. Apparently a few reviewers liked the stories I found problematic and I need to explain to them why they're wrong. :D
