Benjamin Poe, is an upstanding firefighter and citizen who gives his all to protecting and providing for his family. No matter the situation, he stands up for his son until he begins to doubt the innocence of his offspring when things coming to his attention do not add up. No matter the cost, he lays his life on the line for his son even if it costs him his freedom and all he can do is proclaim his innocence as Crighton the reaper mocks him and he pays the ultimate price.

On the other hand, Crighton who is a Soul Seeker by profession and a demon to boot, finds his soul mate who is an Angel while on a mission to capture her soul. Their bond and love grows as they get to know each other even as they fight for their lives against Lucifer. Thankfully they're not alone as his parents join him & later a couple of demons. And as his romantic life blossoms, you will also get to hang around in hell and see Lucifer in action.

Kaylin McFarren shows how love of family and blindness to our children's misdeeds can lead to disastrous consequences although by the end of it I wasn't sure if Gabriel was just plain evil or the devil made him do it. We also see the budding romance of two very opposite people and how they navigate through their different value and belief systems.

The book is well edited as there are only a few typos. The language is simple so the reader does not need to keep referring to a dictionary. If fantasy adventures with a dash of thriller interest you then this book is for you as long as you fall under the Mature Audience rating because of the content. There is also some profanity used.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because although the story has a good flow I was unable to let go of the first third of the book which was a fantastic thriller and is also what I loved most about the book. The remaining two thirds is what I disliked most because I was unable to get behind the story line which was an average romance and it was not as interesting as when Poe was around. You will either like the ending or you won't. All in all pick up Soul Seeker, and come and see what the devil made them do.
