The Hand Bringer by Christopher J. Penington is an action-packed rollercoaster that takes the rider through the imaginative world of time travel and vampiric entities. The author carefully and skilfully narrates a deep and well-researched book filled with page-turning flow of events.

Peter Hadrian is an energetic and purpose-driven cop that gets caught up in a pretty complicated situation in the line of duty. While deeply in thought over the sad death of his wife and the mysterious disappearance of his son, he is called over the radio by a dispatcher about a disturbance on Forsythe. In response, he races his police car there unaware of the horror that awaits him. Peter finds an ugly bloody scene of two dead police officers. Looking around to see what had caused the unpleasant scene, he comes face to face with a pale-looking human who seem to know what had transpired. The man calls Peter "the infant Hand Bringer", lunges onto him and engages him in a struggle that ends with the human dead and Peter with a bite wound on his neck.

Luke McElroy, Peter's friend, and co-worker arrives at the scene just in time to find Peter barely conscious. As they are on their way to the hospital in an ambulance, they are suddenly stopped and both Luke and Peter are taken by people who identify themselves as the FBI despite Luke's skepticism about jumping aboard. The only conviction he has is that he cannot leave his friend in the hands of these sudden strangers. The two are taken to a secret destination and let on the secret of their lives.

Peter had come into contact with a vampire. The bite on his neck meant he was infected and if not taken care of, he would become one of them. With genetic manipulation from the Apocalypse Suppression Administration(ASA) and the lucky encounter with a woman, while he was still a young boy, Peter recovers and becomes a man of the strength of at least five men. With that, Peter and Luke are given the mission to go back in time and change the state of circumstances by killing the original vampire and anyone who has been infected before they infect anyone and result in the chaotic world as they know it; filled with bloodthirsty creatures. But before he accepts the mission, Peter gives out the condition that he be given a chance to go back in time before the disappearance of his son to try and save him. Will Peter succeed in this dangerous mission? Will he get to save his son? These are just but a few of the mysteries that will keep you glued to the book up to the last page.

What I loved most about this book were the personalized characters who bring on set different stylistic devices. Luke, for example, comes out as a loyal and reliable friend whose sense of humor is excellent and has Bat with whom they have constant wrangles with. Boriana brings out the aspect of romance while Peter is the epitome of faith, hope, and determination.

I cannot come up with a single thing that I did not like about the book. The book has only a few errors that did not deter me from totally enjoying it. At that, I give this book a confident 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend the book to anyone who loves indulging in what the imaginative mind has to offer. The book is as educational as it is entertaining. However, the book contains some profanities and erotic scenes that may not be suitable for the younger audience.

I immensely enjoyed every part of the book.
