Eden Calloway is a socially awkward person with outstanding grades and is a co-captain of the volleyball team. Despite having nice things in life, she was still insecure about one thing - what her body looked like. One day, she woke up to a better version of herself. She woke up with fuller lips, a thinner nose, longer lashes, and thicker hair. She also noticed that she lost weight. Finally, Eden became the type of girl she always wanted to be. With her newly found confidence, she was able to do things her old self wouldn't even consider. Join Eden in her journey towards self-reflection.

Perfection and Other Illusive Things is a compelling and inspiring romance book that discusses self-love, acceptance, and relationships. It showed that every action we make has its consequences. J. Mercer pointed out relevant issues that affect most people nowadays. Through her book, she showed how the misguided perception of beauty affects a person. She also noted how women are being perceived based on how they dress and how they act.

I loved how this book was written. The wordings used were appropriate to the context of the book, so it is an easy read for me. I loved how effortless and natural Eden and Hawk's conversations were. I also loved how this book made me feel the butterflies in my stomach. The portrayal of the characters was also good. It gives a familiar feeling to its readers, so it was easy to relate to them.

I highly recommend this book to teenagers and young adults because I feel like this book will be appropriate for them because of its context. I also recommend for every girl to read this book because this will serve as a reminder to stop comparing themselves to other people. I believe that above all things, what matters most is that you accept and love yourself.

With that, I am giving this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book made me realize that we cannot control what other people think so their thoughts shouldn't bother us. Overall, this book is worth reading.
