Review by Icortes92 -- The Pro-Achievement Principle
The book The Pro-Achievement Principle Cultivate Personal Skills for Effective Teams by Dr. Deborah S. Bright is a book that will help you achieve better results in your professional and personal life. This book is, as stated in the first few pages, a guide to help you become a Pro achiever and help others working with or for you become one as well.
First of all, the book lets you know that everyone can be a Pro Achiever. It doesn’t matter who you are or what your position in a company you have. The thing that does matter is your own disposition to change or acquire an attitude that permits you go forward with this Pro Achiever principle.
I feel that this book is a very good guide because it takes you through all the process to get into the Pro Achiever principle. Beginning with the definition and going through the differences between a Pro Achiever and Overachievers or Perfectionists. It helps you understand with really good examples what is expected from a Pro Achiever and makes the emphasis on what you can do and that you and only you are capable of changing your mindset to become one and help others get into it too. The people around you will follow your steps and your examples as you may follow the examples given in the book.
What I liked the most is that the examples are very clear and you can empathize easily to each and every situation. It doesn’t matter which area you work on or even if you are an employee, employer, freelancer, etc. The book gives you clear definitions and differences between a Pro Achiever and any other attitude you may encounter on any person.
This book is not only for yourself and it explains it. The more Pro Achievers working together the best and couldn’t agree more. The principle viewed in here is an attitude I consider to be essential in every aspect of our lives. I recommend this to any person who wants to get the most out of their work as well as in their lives. It is not only for employers, leaders or bosses. It is for every person who wants to be better. Because as the book mentions, it is not about the big things or doing things perfectly. It is about adding value to everything we do, even if it is just a bit to our eyes.
It also gives you some examples and ways in which you may introduce other people into this principle so you can have a Pro Achievement attitude in your circle. As I am telling you, this is very important because a group of Pro Achievers is like a well greased system that runs without any trouble.
I can see this working in my life already. I have known people that excel in their jobs and people speak very well of them. After reading the book I understand the traits those people have and why I admire them and want to work with them as well. You will be making connections in your head about the people you’ve worked with or about you and figure out if they or yourself are a Pro Achiever.
The book was very well edited and organized. This among the other things I’ve written is why I give 4 out of 4 stars to this book. Get this book and I promise you you won’t regret it. You’ll be applying this principle in every aspect of your life and you’ll feel a good sense of accomplishment.
