We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Mathew Tysz is the first book of the ‘We are Voulhire’ series. It is a fantasy genre book, set in a fictional universe full of adventure. The story takes place in the kingdom of Voulhire, a world full of magic, science, wealth and many more. The main characters that we are presented are Galen Bray, King Wilhelm and Lord Eldus. A lot of other characters appear as well, that we may discover much more about them in the next books. From the first page, the tone is settled. Something lurking in the shadows of this magnificent world and the main heroes will be called upon to answer. Whether it will be because of Lord Orlin and General Meldorath, King Wilhem's former friends, or something entirely new, it remains to be seen.

I felt quite an on edge reading this book. I found myself always trying to predict the next scenario and how it will play out. I many cases I was positively surprised. I felt immersed in the storyline and quite fascinated by it. I was thrilled by the approach that Mathew Tysz introduces the reader into his universe. He tells his story through various perspectives and lets the reader enjoy and on the same time immerse into this spectacular realm. It mainly focuses on introducing us into this world rather than progress the story. In my opinion, an incredibly well-written beginning, that promises the reader excitement and suspense. Another element I relished was the maps and the glossary accompanying the book. In my opinion, it demonstrated the effort and hard work the writer has put into the creation of the series. As a reader, I cannot help but rejoice and appreciate him even more. It is a story easy to follow and a strong initiation for the series.

On the other hand, I found that occasionally the story was slowly progressing, making it hard for some readers to engage with the book. It mostly centralises to convince us to read the novels, which unfortunately makes this book lose some momentum.

Nevertheless, it is a book I would recommend to mostly teenagers or young adults who are into fantasy books or looking to start a new fiction series! It may not be a revolutionary novel in its genre, but most certainly a very promising one!

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars mainly because in some parts the story’s progression is slow. Still, it has lots of compelling aspects worth exploring and it is most definitely a good book worth diving into!
