We are Voulhire: the fires of Virko by Matthew Tysz is the second book of the We are Voulhire series. It is science fiction, a thriller that follows the events that take place in Voulhire.

This book continues from the first book, where we were introduced to Galen, and throughout the book, we followed him and his friends.

In this book the trio (Galen, Demetrius, and Rowan) are on yet another adventure, they are tasked with a mission that seems them to the city of Virko where they are sent to Vendek Hrelek who is the lord of Virko, upon arriving at his home the lord informs them about the dangerous dark and mysterious entity that is lurking around the house. With this new quest, what will they find? What/ who is this entity? Is it dangerous? Will they defeat it? How will this trio navigate this new quest?

What I loved the most about this book was the character development, in this book, we get to see how Galen grows into a person of importance in the city. Another beautiful aspect of this book was the chemistry that Galen, Demetrius, and Rowan shared, but most importantly, I liked how weirdly strong the bond that Demetrius and Rowan shared, their bond is filled with sarcasm, envy, and tension.

What I did not like about this book is the ending, the ending felt rushed and a little bit disappointing. The last few pages felt long, dragged, and staled, overall, I enjoyed reading the book, but the ending just ruined everything and for this reason, I still rate this book 4 out of 4. But this is my personal view, you might like the ending as you already know this is a series, cliff-hangers are the norm in book series.

I would recommend this book to all fiction, adventure, magic, and thriller lovers, as this book is filled with action-packed scenes and is full of magical (dark magic I might add) sequences. If you hate these things and hate vulgar this is not the book for you.

I found the book entertaining, interesting, and it felt more like a true story rather than fiction. The story was easy to follow and mesmerizing as the language and writing style was simple and straightforward. From the quality of the book, you can tell the book was both professionally written and edited as I found no errors.
