The Secret of Magic.  by Natassa Louppou.

The Secret of Magic. is about a twelve-year-old girl, who on her birthday ends up traveling through many different historical moments, all with the opening of a magical suitcase left by a magician. She finds friendship as well as a bit more understanding in her journey through the past.

I liked that Natassa Louppou had a child's reading in mind while writing The Secret of Magic, it was simple and repetitive enough for children to read and comprehend. It also gives a touch of history for the children to learn if they haven't already as well as a sense of adventure while learning.

I will say, one of the only things I disliked was that most kids have only one certain way that they like to call each of their grandparents and parents. She recalled her grandmother in so many different ways. Grandmother, grammie, grandma. Then when she referred to her mom, she wrote: mother, mum, and mummy.

There was a point of borderline profanity, the use of the word was exclaimed when she became upset at a certain situation. I know in some places some words are not considered profanity, or as potent as other words.

One more thing to add was that the kindle had some odd separations in some of the paragraphs, but that didn't hurt the flow of reading the book. I am not sure if that is on the author or kindle.

I will be giving this book a 2/4 I did not give this a one because I believe children will enjoy reading this book. I did not give the book a three because I feel like there could have been a bit more to it, and the conversations in the book could have been more fluent.
