Review by AlexisHelmer -- The Raven's Trail (Book 1)
The Raven's Trail is a book about adventure and wonder with a dash of romance thrown in. As well as being educational in other cultures and the beliefs of an ancient tribe, I also learnt a lot about cities I have never visited. All through details in scenery, I feel like I have been there and seen and felt that whole experience. Author Liz D Marx has a creative way of sucking the reader into the story from page one to the very end and leaves you ready for book two. I give a rating of 4 out of 4.
Liz D Marx has a way of explaining details in such a way, you can see or feel what is happening to the character. This is a book meant for people that enjoy adventure and living in that mind space for the duration of the book. The Raven's Trail is a blast from the past mixed with the current world today. You get sucked into the places the characters go to and relive what the world could have looked like at one time.
This is a book that anyone who is an Indiana Jones fan would love to read. The sense of running for survival, mixed with the mystery behind characters is for anyone who can imagine a book as a movie. Chloe as a whole is an amusing character that you can't help but find adorable as she talks to herself. Due to how human she is it makes you fall into character that much easier. Chloe is very intelligent and I give a thumbs up for a woman with the independence and brains to go for what she wants in life.
There is a little bit of romance in the air between the two main characters, but no heavy details in the intimacy department. If you're looking for the juicy, naughty bits of a romance novel, you won't find them here. Even without those goods, the heartfelt love and bond between the two is that of two centuries of lovers bound together for eternity. Their bond is sweet and delightful as it grows. The feeling of almost a happily ever after for a princess is present. I do hope for a little more detail in book two.
There is also a constant mystery surrounding Chloe and who she really is, as well as how she connects with Mason's past and his current state of being. All in all you have a book about travel, adventure, romance, mystery and the sense of wonder about places you have never been. The Raven's Trail is very well put together and an easy read as well as educational about other cultures. I will definitely be reading book two after this review!
