Honesty is key is a romantic novel written by Tayma Tameem. The book follows a young man named Atlas who is an actor. His career seems to be on the edge of a cliff as Atlas seems to not be getting any new offers. However, in a sudden turn-out of events, he gets invited to audition for a cooking show that is being produced by a lovely young woman named Selina. Ridiculous enough, even though Atlas knows nothing of cooking he gets the job as Selina find him funny and suitable. From the very first meeting, there seems to be a bond between the two. The story is followed by their journey into each other’s hearts.

There were many things I enjoyed when reading this book. I can start naming them from Atlas’s lovely and optimistic character to every time I laughed over the plot and his mistakes. The whole story seems to be based on positivity that can be seen in dialogues and the descriptions. I very much enjoyed this positive approach on life. I might also add that the book was exceptionally smooth to read from the perspective of a reader whom English is not her first language.

On the other hand, I cannot help but mention that there were indeed a few points that were not to my liking. An example can be given by stating that sometimes it felt as if the story was being dragged on pointlessly. Also, as this is a romantic novel, I was hoping to feel engaged and have my feelings involved while reading, I was disappointed and even a bit bored in this aspect. The ending was also a bit empty; it did not make any sense to me or maybe it just did not match my personal taste.

I give this book a 2 out of 4 stars. As a matter of fact, it was not difficult for me to rate this story because I liked and disliked it by the same amount. I must mention that I would not recommend this book to those who are an expert in the romance novel community, but I indeed would encourage anyone who is looking for a good laugh to read it.

As I observed the lines, there were a few small errors here and there. Overall, I was able to find three of them only. This means that the editor did a good job in my opinion. I would like to end this review by indicating that although there were a few downsides, I really enjoyed reading this book at the end of the day.
