[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is the first book of the We Are Voulhire series. This book is an epic adventure that is full of fantasy. This book bases on Voulhire, an ancient yet highly advanced kingdom that is powerful and has had a series of great kings and heroes as its ruler.
When a powerful king discovers that his four sons are yearning for his throne, he sends the princes away from his kingdom and gives each of them an island and enough resources to govern the islands. The king hopes that this decision will keep the princes apart and kill the urges to conspire against him and take over his throne, but it turns out to because of civil wars and economic crisis in the lands of the princes. Galen, a humble refugee, from the lands of the princes, inherits property in the rich and powerful kingdom of Voulhire after his uncle’s death. Voulhire looks perfect from the surface, but there is trouble that lies deep beneath the surface. What trouble awaits Galen beneath the perfect surface of the kingdom of Voulhire?
What I liked most about this book is the language used. The author vividly describes places and the characters, thus giving the reader a chance to build his or her imagination. The vocabulary in this book is sublime. Everything falls into place perfectly and there are no loose ends. Suspense builds throughout the book and that left me with the anticipation to find out what happens next. The plot is well thought out, thus making the book interesting and exciting.
What I disliked most about the book is that, this book began in a slow pace, which was a bit boring and thus slowed me down. I think the author wanted to help the reader to build a background and familiarise with the characters. I did not find typos or errors in this book thus proof of professional editing and proofreading. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the author has brilliant imagination and exceptional talent.
I cannot wait for the second book of the We Are Voulhire series. this is a great work of fiction that is well suited for teens, young adults and people who love adventure and marvel stories with mages displaying great power. This book will not be appealing to people who do not like magic and fiction.
