Review by K+SQUARE -- The Elfkin Journals: Blending of t...
The Elfkin Journals: Blending of the Races by JDeVereS is a fantasy and science fiction novel about the Elfkin (pronounced “Ilfkin”) race. They are people whose pure heritage has been lost to the blending of races and lots of knowledge and way of life has been lost. Eirin, a descendant of one of the oldest Elfkin families is still doing his best to translate the journals written in the hieroglyphic language of the Elfkin until he stumbles upon an uncommon format. Instead of a professional routine journal log entries and scientific notations, he was holding a literary saga; which is where we begin our journey into a world of lightways, bridge builders, gate Keepers, gate masters, birthstones, mind stones, event stones, he mother, acolytes, technology and magic.
The story revolves around Warder Team 3: “THE MISFITS.” The unit comprised three bonded couples, a protector class elder and an Elven trainee. Their mission statement is to preserve life, protect the federated planets, protect and nurture developing worlds, serve as universal guardians of the lightways, limit bridge and portal use to those purposes intended to promote the safety and growth of the federated Elfkin peoples. This team of misfits has a unique blend of gifts that make them a force to reckon with even among the elites.
Supreme Acolyte, Prime Leader Adad is a character that reminds me of Adolf Hitler. He is obsessed with remaking every planet into his idea of what the planet should look like and that makeover includes bio warfare.
This book is the first in the series, and I can’t wait to read the sequels. “Life is a moment in eternity… love is eternity born in this moment of life” is a quote I cherish in The Elfkin Journals by JDeVereS. What I liked most about this book is the underlying theme of love and family. It emphasizes the importance of love, family and life bond not common in our society today. “Life is about improving your soul. It is neither about the money you earn nor the castles you build: these are illusions attached to a moment” is just one of the life truths interspersed throughout the book.
I could find nothing to dislike about the book as it satisfies my craving for a very good story. It contains no profanity and sexual scenes.
I would recommend the book to all lovers of fantasy and science fiction and it seems to be professionally edited. I rate the book four out of four stars because of its ability to engross the reader making it difficult to put the book down until it has been completed.
