God’s mercy and miracle still exist in this wonderful world where we are, even in the darkest moments where we doubt his love for us. Jesus, Prosperity Gospel and Poverty in Africa by Elijah Oladimeji proves to humanity that God is real. Elijah focuses on the occurrences of Africa and how the gospel stayed true to them. Although they have suffered from the unbearable pain of poverty, they held unto the words of God.

A quick read comprising ten chapters, this booklet remains a must-read because it contains powerful messages that could uplift the audience. He cites inspiring real-life events about his family and the church members backed up with powerful bible verses.

The good sides of this book are first, it uplifts minds, hearts, and spirits through its motivating stories. Second, he base it on facts. Third, I really loved it when he mentioned that Africa is the one responsible and not depend on foreigners for help.

This book also has its poor sides. First, the title. It’s not catchy, and it’s too long to remember. Second, I found a lot of complex sentences and few typos. Third, the book is disorganized. Each chapter jumps from one thought or story to another. It lacks the alignment and consistency it needs to build a powerful message.

Fourth, I suggest that he wrote a motivational book about how he survived COVID-19 as he mentioned it on the dedication part. It could be very beneficial to many people as a survival guide. Fifth, there is a chapter where he compared Africa to Europe. I don’t think it’s necessary because it could hurt some sensitive Europeans.

I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars because of typos and sentence construction problems that I’ve encountered throughout the book. Somehow, its poor alignment is sometimes confusing.

I recommend this book to men and women in their early 30s because it will enlighten them, especially today where we are experiencing the pandemic. Parents, students, professionals who are going through some serious stuff need to read this so that it could inspire them. Above all, it would remind them that God has given them a big favor of being alive. They are part of the lucky people who have a roof over their heads, food on their tables, and clothes to wear. The average African, according to the book, makes less than $1.25 a day.

One last thing I have to say is, please all pray for Africa that they will all survive the hazard of COVID-19 and that they will rise slowly and surely.
