The Flower Girl Murder written by Keith Hirshland is a crime thriller that portrays jealousy, envy, and vengeance which leads to murder.

Daisy Burns, a respected attractive woman was found murdered and her body was found near the dumpster behind the Planned Parenthood office in North Carolina. She was shot three times on her heart, head, and between the legs. Detective Marc Allen was sure that the killer gave a message by shooting the victim in these areas. But he couldn't find any suspects or witnesses for this case. Daisy Burns' murder soon became the ' flower girl murder '. When her photo was shown on the television, Blanche Avery realized her old friend. She is the only one who can provide details about Daisy Burns' past that could help in solving the case. She tried to contact Lancaster Heart, a TV anchor, but she couldn't talk to him. Daisy Burns' death shattered Blanche Avery and she became more and more depressed and gloomy. Teri Hickox, a lawyer, and her father Hank Hickox, Tanner Goochly are all important characters who are driven by vengeance and hate. The entry of Dollar Ridge Madison and Nicholas Avery changed the fate of the story. When a second murder occurred, Detective Marc Allen must catch the murderer before another one is killed. This story shows Detective Marc Allen's journey to find the truth and the killer.

The characters are introduced with detailed character descriptions. The killer is also revealed in the first half itself. Each character was described in detail, including, secondary characters. For instance, Brodie Murdoch, the fiancee of Lancaster Heart is introduced along with her parents Claire and Park Murdoch. Dollar Ridge Madison's entry as a lawyer was an exciting one as he would do anything to protect the killer from the police. Detective Mark Allen's methods to find the killer is also interesting. Even though the killer was revealed in the first half itself, the ending was an exciting one.

Since the story showed the lives of many characters in detail, the story lagged a bit. There weren't any suspenseful twists to keep us entertaining. The book did not have many grammatical errors.

I would give it a 3 out of 4 stars. I reduced one star as the book lacked suspenseful twists and turns.

I would highly recommend it to those who love to read crime thrillers. Sensitive readers must be aware of the profane language and sexual scenes.
