Review of ...on your way home...Do This
...On Your Way Home...Do This by George Six is a biographical memoir of a spiritual journey. The author talks about his background and family. He discusses his dream of Eden, and how his perspective changed after the death of his father. His story goes as wide as to speak of his family, his grandfather, and even his mother's grandfather. He highlights the near-fatal accident of his son that left him with long-lasting after-effects. One of the things notable about the author's brothers is that they had died with regrets, even in his dream Eden. He points out that his mother's father who was a sheriff died of cirrhosis of the liver. Was this one of the hazards of the freedom of Eden? He talked about the positive aspects of Eden like the modes of transportation used. The author wrote the book during the sixty-fourth anniversary of their marriage to Irene.
George Six talks about issues involving racial discrimination, drugs, violence, divorce, abortion, and human rights. These aspects have been well discussed with no loose ends. Despite the seriousness and formality used in discussing these issues, the author managed to use some sense of humour in his writing. He also included the use of some cliches that brought out a new light in the biographical memoir. The use of exact figures and dates was also an aspect I appreciated in the book. He brought out a new light on the aspect of family and their mutual connection. When he moved to the seminary he was together with Irene and they never lost the connection that they had.
This book contains a lot of fun-filled stories, that depict the different aspects of life that are both useful and impact different possibilities in life. Many events in this book are relatable to the reader. Even though set during the great depression, the events that take place as the author grows up are well explained and I related to most of them, if not all of them. There were many positive aspects about the book but I also noted some negative aspects that left me dissatisfied. I noted that the author did not provide a proper flow of the events in the story. This was a distraction as I had to go back and confirm some of the details the author explained earlier in the book. Going back and forth in the book caused me some inconsistency.
...On Your Way Home...Do This, is a book that sparks a different approach to some of the aspects discussed. I, therefore, rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The negative aspect mentioned above was a great setback for me and I deducted a star due to this. I, nevertheless, didn't give the book a lower rating as it was a great piece of art and requires appreciation. I only noted a few errors in the book indicating that it was professionally edited.
I recommend this book especially to teens and adults, as it provides an approach that brings out different reactions. The topics discussed in this book provide facts that bring out a different approach to these issues. The cover art of the book is certainly welcoming and it's an aspect that shouldn't be overlooked when the reader embarks on the reading of this biographical memoir by George Six.
