An intimate love story of a woman torn between two men with an unexpected twist. Chameleons by Onyx Gold delivers a steamy insight into the life of Zia Lennox, a literary agent looking for a best seller. Unexpectedly, Zia captures the attention of a handsome new lawyer in the same building in which she works, Bryce Fink. That same day, she reads a manuscript too good to put down and knows she’s struck gold. As Zia becomes closer to Bryce, she also discovers that she is drawn to the author of her golden manuscript, Baxter Leopold. Unlike Bryce, who is caring, considerate, and supportive, Baxter is bold, aggressive, and honest. The closer Zia’s heart gets to Bryce the fiercer her body desires Baxter. Will Zia choose the doting lawyer who only wants to love her, or will she drown in the fierce nature and intense intimacy of the demanding author?

Chameleons is a fast paced romance that pulls the reader in immediately making us root for the nice guy, Bryce Fink, but lusting for the bold Baxter Leopold. With intimate moments from beginning to end, each encounter becoming more and more erotic. Onyx Gold uses pacing well, drawing out intense moments, but pushing the action to create heart-pounding suspense at the right moments. The twists and turns in the book all coming together nicely, but leaving us wanting more.

As stated above, the pacing of the book was well done and added to the romance and suspense throughout. The best part about this story is that it wasn’t what I was thinking it might be; it was even better. Several moments throughout the story I found myself shocked by what I had just read. I really enjoyed the twists and how they all came together and unraveled for plot clarity. The intimate scenes throughout the book were well written without feeling repetitive. This suspenseful romance did not disappoint.

Although I enjoyed the plot and the way in which the author told the story, I didn’t love the use of alternating view points from anyone other than Zia, and the mystery view point. Having the viewpoint from the police officer felt out of place. The inconsistent peek into the mystery character added to the story and suspense and felt more genuine. Including the police officer’s point of view gave too much away for me when I would have liked the mystery to continue to the climax of the story.

I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars as there were almost no grammatical or spelling errors in the entire book and the plot is well written. The character development was just enough to provide the information necessary to keep the reader well informed and enjoy the characters, but also withheld important information to add to the mystery. Because of the intense intimate moments in the book, I gave three stars.

This book is recommended for mature readers ages 21 and older. Several of the intimate moments become more intense and erotic and includes aggressive sexual behavior. The story is well written, however, certain sexual acts may be too much for some readers.
