Being a burn survivor and victim of abuse can leave wounds that can take time to heal. The 240-page book, Remarkably Intact: Angels Are No Strangers to Chains by Celia Belt, tells the author's experience. The book explores the themes of hope, love, and shares experiences of domestic violence.

Celia is a talented, resilient lady who grew up in an abusive home. She tried daily to survive the plights of abuse, rejection, and bullying, to name a few. In this book, Celia tells the story of how she found joy in life's small pleasures and seeks independence for herself as a young adult amid life's crisis. As she was growing up, she was not lucky when it came to romantic relationships. She became what the community did not permit any woman to become, but she stood for what she knew was right, and she had hope for a brighter future. She had three children, and she was determined to give them the best she could. Looking at her love life, will she find the one that is meant for her? Read the book to find out.

One of the things I liked about the book is the short poems in it. They were beautifully written and gave me the feeling of how the writer feels in subsequent paragraphs. I liked the way Celia had so much determination in her work and drive for a better life for her children.

Also, I liked Celia's love for her younger sister, Audra. The risks that she took for her sister displayed a role that an older sister should play. Celia used to hide her burn scars; however, I loved it when she began to wear short sleeves. Another thing I admire is Celia's determination and drive for a better life for her children.

Furthermore, I love that the book had pictures that illustrate more to the readers. The way these pictures introduce characters before meeting them in the text is remarkable. For example, I look forward to meeting Randy even before reading about him. However, I observed that the book has quite a number of errors. I recommend the book for another round of editing to make it flawless. Aside from this, there is nothing I dislike in the book, as it is informative and interesting. Therefore, I rate Remarkably Intact: Angels Are No Strangers to Chains three out of four stars.

I recommend the book to burn survivors and their families. Also, I believe families who lost loved ones to burn injury and victims of abuse would benefit from reading this book. The book portrays the hope of a better tomorrow from a first-hand experience.
