Cry Baby Cry… or Not by the author DeWandus Johnson is a fictional, crime, and thriller book. The author reveals an outlook of the lives of the people who are overlooked for not having the opportunity granted to many. The story revolves around Trina and Mistro. Trina was a daughter of a mute and deaf mother who was never accepted by the world. Trina’s mother never let her involved with the outside world and she always tortured her. Trina was living in hell but somehow she managed to escape the place and met Mistro. Mistro was a gang member and was doing everything that was needed to initiate into gang life. Both of the main characters were dealing with situations as best as they can. But the author had different plans as he gives a shocking realistic tale. Things turned out to be different after the climax of the story. The supporting characters were also very interesting. The book has so much to read like, drama, sexual abuse, murder, violence, gang life, and generational abuse.
When I started reading the book, it was shocking until I started getting a feel for the style of how it’s written. It is explained so deeply that anyone can picture the situation in their mind. It gives a great insight into gang violence, lost souls, revenge, and many more things. And the best part of the book that I really liked was the conversation Angelo had with Duke about how your upbringing influences how you turn out. Once you started reading the book, it’s hard to put it down because every chapter ended with a question, What next? I like the way this book gave a whole different perspective of life. And this book will help to understand the reality of happenings in someone else’s life.
The book contains a lot of characters, it’s like a new character in every new chapter, so sometimes it becomes hard to remember every character. And I do not like the content like murder scenes and children molestation described excessively. The abusive words were overly used. The material in the book was super graphic and the violence and sex scenes are also overly described. At some point, I wanted to throw up.
I rate the book 2 out of 4 for its good story showing a world that is present there but not visible to us. Although the book contains grammatical and spelling mistakes, careful reading can help to understand the book. But still, the content is overly explained which is disturbing for me.
I will recommend the book to the people who love to read drama and gang life because this book contains mature content and is not for soft-hearted or faith-hearted people.

This sounds like an intense read—and too graphic for me, I think. Thank you for your thorough review. :balloon:

There seems to be a lot of suspense in this book. However, I do not like sensitive issues described to the tiniest detail. Thanks for the informative review.
