Inca is enjoying traveling around the world with her human mother and her siblings while involving with some exciting and dangerous detective missions. As part of those travels, Inca and her siblings visit Sri Lanka which is a very beautiful Island. While holidaying over there, they travel around the Island enjoying beach sides as well as the hill country. One day, they hear the news that an antique sword has been stolen from the main museum which is in the city of Colombo. Whilst this being very troubling news for Inca and the team, they were elated once they hear the news that Mr Solo who is a well-respected crime detective was called upon by the government of Sri Lanka to investigate the theft. They were also delighted to hear that one of their detective members, Terrance, also coming with Mr Solo. The story is getting excited from there on as Inca and the team launch their own investigation to find out the stolen sword.

You must have read a lot of stories about human detective agents. However, when was the last time you read a detective story involving cats and dogs? R.F.Kristi’s Inca book series provide readers, especially children a different experience altogether. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is the seventh book of that series involving Inca the cat detective and her siblings and friends as the other members of her detective team.

What I like most about the story is the simple language being used and the funny illustrations used. Both these aspects will help the young readers to enjoy the story as they like to look at images rather than lengthy dialogue or explanations in a children’s story.

It is also noteworthy that the author used the name Serendipity Mystery as part of the title of the story. The meaning of the word Serendipity is someone accidentally discovering something good. One of the ancient names for Sri Lanka is also ‘Serendib’ which has relevance to the word serendipity. It is evident that the author has carefully considered the naming of the book title when considering the educational aspect and the way the author has presented the story to enhance the children’s knowledge.

One aspect I did not enjoy about the story is a subplot that is not directly related to the main story. This is about one of Inca’s siblings gone missing. While I understand the author’s intention of keeping the story exciting, it would have been ideal if the subplot could have been related to the main plot. However, this is not much of a distraction as this is a children’s book.

I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There were no grammatical errors in the book. This can be attributed to the author’s intention of providing a professionally edited book. So, I can say that the book is exceptionally well-edited. The book is most suitable for the children who are in the age category of 07 to 12.

Great Review! It's quite a quaint little book, and I definitely won't mind reading it on the side in the future.
A process cannot be understood by stopping it. Understanding must move with the flow of the process, must join it and flow with it.

The only person who can sympathize with and understand you, is you. So, be good to yourself.
