Review of How To Be Successful
What is your definition of success? When do you consider yourself a success? What steps do you take daily to improve? What have you recognized as your greatest strength and how have they impacted your success? What are your weaknesses or character flaw and what are you doing to overcome them? How do you make important decisions? Was there any pivotal moment that set you on the path to where you are now? Are there any books you have read more than once? Any difficult commitment you have made? Would you then make them again? What character trait do you value most in others? How do you push through your worst times? What keeps you awake at night? What inspires you? How do you manage and prioritize opportunities? What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Using these questions, M. Curtis McCoy in this nonfiction book titled How To Be Successful shared the views of already established, successful, and well-known individuals to inspire and educate readers. The book featured interviews from specific individuals, along with the author's own story, opinion, and advice on how to be successful.
This book contained numerous quotes and motivational sentences from notable entrepreneurs, businesses men, and individuals from all facets of life such as Jeff ‘Biggs’ Wobig, Connie Wyatt, Paul B. Watson, Eric Payne and others. The author was versatile and worked hard for this book’s compilation. It showed that the book was well researched. The arrangement of its content was great and the diction was also very simple and explicit. This made reading interesting, fun, and worth every second.
Just like the title sounds, the book majorly educated. The author sought to teach people how to turn their lives into a success which he achieved. Amongst all, the book educated and gave the different definitions of success, steps to creating the solution to a problem, and gave the ways to master using our strength and suppressing our weakness. It further taught on sacrificing short-term goals and practicing delayed gratification, surrounding oneself with incredible people, investing in a business one is comfortable with, knowing when to cut losses and move on, the term- financial martyr, and taking care of problems as they arise.
Another notable thing about this book is that it was inspiring. The fact that the author was diagnosed with diabetes when he was twenty-seven months old but through the encouragement of his mother was able to overcome it, inspired us not to allow anything to set us back. It also encouraged readers not to compare themselves with people’s lives on social media as not all that glitter is gold.
There were so many loveable things about this book and nothing to dislike. The saying that one should have an established mentor and model in one's field was what the author keyed into and achieved. It was so thoughtful of him and I believe that every reader's life, especially his or her reasoning and cognitive abilities, would be changed after reading this book. I also encountered no error while reading which depicts professional editing. Therefore, I am giving this book a rating of four out of four stars for excellence.
I highly recommend this book to business-minded people and others from all areas of life. If you want to turn your life into a success, grab a copy of this book. Finally, I say a big thank you and kudos to the author.
