Review of The Fourth Kinetic
The fourth Kinetic by Brady Moore is an incredible debut from the author. It was action-packed and an overall page-turner. It follows the story of the young, seventeen-year-old Rion who was gifted with telekinetic powers that no one else is aware of. Though, his secret no longer remains his own as the day comes when he finds himself, alongside his mother, being hunted down. Sending his life into a complete spiral.
What I enjoyed most about this was the way it went about presenting Rion’s journey. Though the plot heavily revolves around supernatural aspects, it also lends itself to real-life aspects such as life on the run. I really enjoyed this book and its unique take on supernatural humans and their lives. To top it all of, Rion is a genuinely likable character. He is determined, strong, and stubborn yet you can only continue to root for him and hope he succeeds in every way. Not only that but as the story progresses we are introduced to a whole community of people like Rion with powers.
The book keeps you in suspense and the overall mystery of what's yet to come grips you by the hand and drags you along. The banter that occasionally goes on between the characters is definitely hilarious enough to warrant a hearty laugh. The emotion embedded into each and every word will make your heart pound and bring tears to your eyes.
One of this book's greatest aspects is its diversity. These days it’s typically hard to find a well-written book that showcases characters from different ethnicities and backgrounds, so it was very refreshing to experience that while reading this thrilling story. Brady Moore has created an amazing fictional world that almost reminds me of the great marvel universe in a way. While reading, you immediately become engrossed in the story and want to know how every little detail is going to play out. Each character that emerges in the novel feels so genuine as if they could be someone you would personally know and understand. A fantastic portrayal of everyday people that makes it easy to understand them and their actions.
The fourth Kinetic truly deserves a 4 out of 4 ratings. The plot of the book is unique and learning about the power system was very entertaining. The start of the book is a little slow, but once it gets going, it doesn’t stop. While this book doesn’t necessarily end on a cliffhanger, it does leave me with some unanswered questions that I hope will be answered in the next installment. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, action, adventure, the found family trope, and mystery. The fourth Kinetic by Brady has definitely become one of my top ten.
