Review of Rise and Conquer
Ever get stuck in your head causing missed opportunities? A self-correcting mindset is an answer to reaching your goals, as portrayed in Partida’s book. Juan Partida’s Rise and Conquer: The Unrivaled Mindset and Self-Discipline to Achieve Your Wildest Goals offers a method in understanding why we let our inner self control our outer behaviors. Shifting our inner thoughts is the way to break through negative barriers when our minds lead us on a path of destruction, mediocrity, and procrastination.
The author beings with a bombshell of a statement; I will not divulge because it stirred an emotion prompting me to read further. I had to find out ‘how dear’ he says such a thing but is brilliant. There are no pity parties allowed by Partida. No blaming others for your problems. Filtering out all negative thoughts, including high doses of watching the news, is a step in conquering your fears and achieving your goals. The shiny object syndrome is the first step to tackle by delaying your need for instant gratification. The visual pyramid provided helps the reader begin a step-by-step model in creating their vision.
The book appears professionally edited with only a few minor typos and capitalization errors that did not detract from reading. There is strong language noted in a few chapters but zero sexual content. I recommend this book for all ages. The message is to recognize negative thoughts and create a consistent habit of flipping those thoughts to positive affirmations. Each chapter leads into another habit-building exercise that leads to actionable behaviors to live out your wildest dreams.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There is nothing I dislike about this book. The beginning paragraph gave me pause but was intriguing enough for me to want to hear more from the fiery-sounding author. One of the takeaways from the author’s message is that our level of maturity determines the ability to take control of failures and turn them into successes. What was interesting about this statement is that Partida did not say age was a factor in defining maturity! The author equates maturity to a state of acknowledgment where the person holds oneself accountable. The self-reflecting questions the author raised prompts the reader to ask themselves tough questions and take ownership of actions. By recognizing an opportunity, you create steps for solutions and a roadmap to guide future actions. The last takeaway, but not least, is that breaking the chain reaction of a negative mindset leads to conquering fears. Accept successes by celebrating bite-sized victories that are realistic and attainable.
