"The key to success and happiness is through other people. It's our human connections that make us more intelligent, compassionate and understanding." - Page 346.

One will appreciate these words of wisdom upon reading Randy the Irresistible by S M Goodier. This novel is a British comedy that focuses on Randy Love. Randy may not be considered intelligent, but he uses his good looks, wit and charm to make situations play in his favour. But now Randy steers into adulthood. He desires to become independent and live life as he wishes. However, his charm attracts women with ulterior motives in mind. Will Randy manage to juggle his career, studies, women pursuers and still become independent and free?

Randy the Irresistible is a work of fiction, Britain being its setting. Of importance, the book uses British English. The novel heavily borrows from British vocabulary and slang. As a result, some terms may be unfamiliar with a majority of non-British individuals. But the book does offer an index of vocabulary and slang used with their definitions.

The novel's narration was colourful. The use of slang within the story made it very enjoyable and unique. It was easy to flow with; however, at some point, the book became monotonous. Despite the hilarious circumstances, the narration never evolved, which would have made the humorous events marvellous. The good thing is that the story's plot was great. There were no plot holes. The subplots merged to offer a fantastic plot. I applaud the author for his efforts.

The book is a comedic novel. Readers looking for a laugh will enjoy the exciting vocabulary and scenarios that Randy puts himself in. The book does bear some elements of drama, which often involves Randy and one of his female pursuers. The novel also uses vulgar language. It mixes both obvious and subtle profanity. It is also important to note that some of the offensive words used are part of British slang. The novel also bears explicit scenes that may not be ideal for those who cannot tolerate them.

The book's ending was anticlimactic. I was disappointed with its ending. It felt as if the author rushed the story's conclusion. However, I do appreciate that the book had very few grammatical errors. I applaud the author for his professionalism.

Therefore, I would give the book a rating of 3 out of 4. The anticlimactic ending and the monotonous narration are what I disliked the most, justifying the three-star rating. But I do appreciate the fact that the author professionally edited the book. What I liked most about the book was the use of British slang and vocabulary.

I recommend this novel to those who like comedy. This will leave you smirking or laughing at the absurdity portrayed. However, I don't recommend this novel to those who cannot tolerate vulgar language or explicit scenes.

I think the book has some film potential and could be made into a solid romantic comedy. Thanks for the good review.
