Review of The Raven's Trail (Book 1)
The Raven's Trail(Book 1) by Liz D. Marx is a thrilling love story which is well intertwined between the past and the present time of Chloe, a very intelligent historian and Mason Green. Chloe had vivid dreams which nolonger felt like a dream but felt so real. She had her invisible friend called 'lady' whom always guided her, and was by her side always. Due to her dreams, her mother was forced to take her to different doctors thinking that she had developed a mental disorder, not until lady stopped appearing to her, that all those nightmares stopped but the memories couldn't be erased.
Chloe worked in a museum that she had always dreamt of for years, The Smithsonian museum, when she came across items identified as 'not urgent' and gets a stone that seemed so familiar. Where did she see it? The stone would shine bright light whenever she touched it which confused her since "stones aren't conductors of electricity". She decided to find more about the stone when she met Mason, a handsome Native American whom she knew was of help as directed by Lady. Mason accepted to help her since he wanted to know if it's her who was after his life and also to know what she knew about the stone. Is this the stone with answers about his immortality? Mason falls in love with her and they begin their research though with different agendas. Mason had lived decades to decades hence he was tired of life, he wandered all-over awaiting his death.
Mason turns out to be Uwetsi (prince) Kaye and the future Shaman (ruler) of the Tula tribe who commits a grave mistake that leads to his tribe being wiped out from the face of the earth and is cursed. Who cursed him? How would he break the curse or was he to wander the earth forever? Who was after his life and why? Journey with Chloe Doyle and Mason, the antique shop owner in their romantic relationship as their past unfolds and their questions answered.
The Raven’s Trail by Liz D. Marx is one novel I enjoyed reading. The author had so many themes well interconnected, that is love, history, reincarnation and forgiveness, making the romance novel not usual. It tells a story of Native Americans and how they were massacred after Prince Kaye betrayed his tribe. The local language was used and also interpreted to readers content. The suspense couldn't allow to keep the book for a while as I looked forward to know how the story would end. Mason played the tough guy part that was not ready for any commitment, but after taking Chloe on tour knew nothing would give him more pleasure than spending the rest of his life with her.
There was a lot of cursing which I believe could be done without. I was also saddened by some mysteries for instance, the killings though they didn't affect my reading much.
The book was professionally edited since I didn't come across any typos or grammatical errors. I give the piece a perfect rate of four out of four stars because of the unique script of romance connected to so many themes which were very clear. I would recommend this book to lovers of reincarnation stories and history without explicit erotic scenes .
