Review of My Living Will
My living Will is a non-fictional book by the author John Trautwein. The author was a former player of baseball who played for Boston Red Socks. He was living a very happy life with his wife Susie and four kids. But one day, his elder son Will took his own life. After some investigation, they found that Will was suffering from depression without any external signs. It was a heartbreaking moment for the whole family. The author shared a lot of happy memories with his son. Will was living a very beautiful life. He was a gem. But somehow depression won and he lost his life. The book will help you to understand that a happily living person can also have depression. This book talks a lot about depression, its cause, how we can help others to fight depression. John lost his first child and after everything, he never leaves the path of positivity. Although he was broken from the incident, he gathered his courage. He found the purpose of his life and found a foundation named Will to Live which works for kids, by kids, through kids. There are a lot of stories shared by the author in the book. This book will make you understand that depression is a very severe mental illness that should not be ignored. As the author said that everyone should use his story to talk about depression. It is the need of the world to talk more about depression. The author suggested a lot of ways to start the discussion about depression with your close ones.
I liked the book very much. It talks about depression and helps to know more about it. I feel like everyone should be aware of depression whether they are suffering or not. The author suggested many things in the book with the help of incidents. He suggested talking with your parents, friends or having an adult person with whom you can share everything. There are many quotes from the author that I liked. One of them was ‘A good team wins but a great team loves each other'. He also talked about life teammates and A.C.T. Overall the book is a great start to understand depression.
There is nothing negative in the book. The book is written on a very good topic using good incidents to aware people of depression.
I will rate this book 3 out of 4 because I was expecting more from the book. Although the author did a great job, I was expecting the author to share the content he used in his 300+ speeches. I want to know more about the words he used to motivate people.
I will recommend the book to everyone. I believe that everyone should know about depression and this book is a great medium to start. This book will tell that how depression can affect a happily living family.
