In this book, the author invited us to the life of biracial girl chistened Kalayla, who was loquacious and wiseacre. Amidst the story, Jeannie Nicholas bewray Kalayla seeking the truth about her mother's family whom were portrayed died, but only to find out they are alive, and they forlet them. As the time went by, sudden change about Lena's life occurred, the landlady of Maureen and kalayla, adopted two cats and change the way she dressed. In any way, the book turned out the way I hoped, the happy ending as always, but I longed for Rico to be smitten with Maureen, which seemed like, at the beginning of the story, although I admired the connection and friendship they had.

I relished every bit of it. This yarn, always lighten up ones spirit in gloom. Jeannie Nicholas elucidated more upon different parts of racial discrimination, gender-based violence, marital rape, bullying, LGBT, amnesties and mostly the kindness of strangers.

For me as enthusiast of books, I find this book not perfectly written, but it is readable.

In spite of some bloopers I observed, I would rate it, 3 out of 4.

I would recommend this book mostly to devotee of family binding.
