Review of How To Be Successful
“How to Be Successful” is a book designed to inspire and help people who want more than existence. Tips and examples for their application show how a person can change and improve his life. What I like about the book is the fact that it is full of personal experience and real events. When the author is not talking about his own live, the narrator's place is taken by others he has chosen to interview. This decision is crucial for the possibility of success to be viewed from many and different perspectives.
It is inspiring, but at the same time sincere. There are no exaggerated things, life is presented in its true form. The stories in the book are full of happy events as well as sad and discouraging ones. It shows how everyone makes mistakes, everyone faces difficult moments, everyone can lose everything, but the important thing is to continue to have hope and fight for your dreams.
The interviews are interesting, and the people who are interviewed are very different, each with their own unique story. Although the questions asked are the same for everyone, there are no equal answers and different and useful observations can be drawn from all of them. There are chapters devoted only to tips for success, which are again very useful and very sincere. The author does not hide his opinion that in order to be successful, you must be ready to fight and sacrifice some parts of your life.
M. Curtis McCoy, the author of the book, has one of the most inspiring stories ever told. Despite all the difficulties that stood in his way, difficulties that were on the way to even take his life, he overcame them and did not give up. The very fact that he wrote this book is in itself incredible. He manages to write on the pages stories of hope, of pain, of love and fidelity, of life. I think this is wonderful.
At first, to be honest, I wasn't particularly happy about the fact that almost every interview mentioned both the Bible and parts of it. I also didn't like how often prayer was mentioned as something to help you in difficult times. I must say that I am writing this as an atheist. I later realized that there was really nothing wrong with that. Yes, the book talks a lot about Christianity as a fulcrum in life, as something extremely important, but these are things that people say about themselves, things that are important to them, and play a big enough role in their lives, to mention them often. However, there is no conviction that everyone should be a Christian, there are no insults about other beliefs and there is no pressure. This, and the way the book is written, as well as the reason for its creation, are the reasons why I give it 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend it to be read by anyone who wants to become a better version of themselves, likes inspirational and helpful books, or has lost confidence in themselves and their actions and needs to find hope again.

Hello! I totally agree with that. I reviewed this book two weeks ago and noticed that on every page it says something about Christianity and prayers. It's not that bad but it makes you think that you have to become a Christian to be successful and an entrepreneur. With all due respect to Christians and the Christian community, but I'm an atheist and the fact that everything in this book just screams ''CHRISTIANITY'' made me uncomfortable. I do not deny that the book is briliant but i thought that it would be better if there is a little less Christianity. What do you think?Maria Dimitrova wrote: ↑20 Jul 2021, 05:04 [Following is a volunteer review of "How To Be Successful" by M. Curtis McCoy.]
