Former US Army major and now military historian John Harding was signing copies of his most recent book when Julia Patton, granddaughter of the important General Patton, approaches him with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he most certainly can’t decline. Rescuing General Patton will describe to us the tale of this risky and somewhat suicidal operation going on at the same time as the Allies break through the German defences in south Italy, promising us, the readers, a powerful and emotion-fueled story.

Curtis Burdick did an amazing job of correlating all the small details in this book so that they all would make sense when put together. The way the characters' expressions and feelings are described surprised me in a good way as the author uses delicate though impactful words to do so «wispy strands of graying hair over an ever-expanding bald spot» for example.

I can also assure you this was one of the best books I've read, by far, in terms of storytelling as I was always, throughout my reading experience, aching to know what would come up next, what would they do to fix such problem they have had previously in their journey or if that character had survived for example, and I believe that determined my "relationship" per se with the book.

However, I did not quite enjoy the confusing and stressful part of having too many characters involved in the book as I would sometimes, in a busy scene of this story, have to stop and think quite a bit to try and remind myself who was that person and what role he or she had in the middle of that whole situation and I strongly believe that can cause unusual trouble to some distracted readers like me.

I did not find any major errors and believe this book does not need more editing nor corrections as it was professionally edited. Finally, even though I would fancy giving this book a higher rate, but since it caused confusion sometimes in me and who knows other readers, I believe it's a fair rating of 3 out of 4 stars. It's action-packed so I would recommend it to action/adrenaline addicts though I believe this book is not for everyone and a little bit of prior knowledge about World War 2 or how about the Army works in general (as the ranks of the soldiers can get a little confusing to understand as well as the way they operate sometimes) would help the readers experience a lot.
