Losing a pet can be very painful, especially when you've grown fond of it. Even the pets feel bad when they're separated from the families they have grown fond of. Shadow's Adventure Home by Kathy Kovar is a fictional children's book that takes us through an adventure of a lost cat named Shadow.

Shadow loves to watch birds outside the window of his house. He hopes that someday, he will catch one. Since he lives with his family in the city, he hasn't been able to catch one as he is usually indoors the whole day. One day Shadow notices Brendan, his owners' son, putting away their belongings inside some boxes. He plays with the boxes until he realizes that even his belongings were being put in these boxes. Brendon then informs him that they were moving to a bigger house in the country, with more windows for him to watch the birds from. Will he be able to catch a bird this time?

This book has thirty-one pages. Some themes in this book include adventure, love, and family relations. The author uses both the past and the present tenses.

What I liked most about the book is that the author used a very simple vocabulary. This will enable children to read and understand the book easily. The author also used pictorial illustrations throughout the book. This will make the book not only visually appealing but also capture the attention of its readers. I also liked that the book contains very important lessons to help children take good care of their pets.

There is nothing I disliked about the book. It was well edited and contained no grammatical errors. I, therefore, rate it four out of four stars. I recommend it to children between the age of five to thirteen years. Especially those who love pets. Since the storyline is simple and predictable, older audiences may not enjoy it.

Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen
