Amanda Parker was no longer a believer in true love. After losing everyone close to her, she came to the conclusion that she was the problem. Everyone she loves would eventually get hurt or die. She decided to keep a low profile as not to attract anyone new into her life. This plan blew up in her face the day she saved the life of Chicago police officer, Mark Callahan. There was an instant connection between the two and they both felt like they knew each other. With the help of Amanda's psychic godmother, they decided to find out if they had met each other before. The results they found shocked both of them. They both lived centuries before. The question now was: Did they actually meet each other before?

Yesterday by Samyann is an enthralling novel that can also be taken as a historical fiction. The book is written from the third-person perspective, and we get unbiased details of what is taking place in each scene. I liked how the author skillfully switched between eras without interrupting the flow of the story. The characters were well developed, and each scene kept me wondering what was going to happen next.

There was not much to dislike about this well-written story. The only thing that I didn't particularly enjoy was the ending. After reading the story and all the events leading up to the last chapter, I expected a surprising ending, but that was missing. In my opinion, the ending was very flat and a little disappointing.

I have no regrets in awarding Yesterday with 4 out of 4 stars. The book was exceptionally well edited, and I must commend the author on her writing style. I found no errors while reading. The text flowed so smoothly, making the story an easy read. This book centers on many interesting themes ranging from love to racial discrimination. The topic of reincarnation was quite intriguing. The author expertly draws readers with interesting theories about reincarnation and having many previous lives before the one we currently know.

Yesterday is a book about love, reincarnation and soulmates. It would be most suitable for persons who love reading these themes. Persons who are enthusiastic about suspense would enjoy this book as well. Historical fiction lovers would also enjoy this story as it made mention of the eighteenth century with well-researched, factual information. In conclusion, Yesterday is an emotion-filled novel with a bit of comedy.
