Review of Wellness Toolbox
There is a famous Latin phrase that reads, “mens sana in corpore sano”. It means a healthy mind in a healthy body. People are suffering from illnesses caused by mismanaged lifestyles that include improper diets and lack of physical exercise. Wellness Toolbox: Debunking Myths About Fitness and Nutrition to Provide All the Tools You Need for a Healthier and Happier Life by Don Roberts addresses the question of how an individual can remain healthy through proper dieting and exercising. The book also addresses myths on the subject and affirms facts thereof. Don pours his three-decade experience as a fitness and nutrition specialist. He owns a gym where he helps people work out in a bid to lead a healthy lifestyle. The insights given here are well researched and are those that can be relied on. The author pinpoints details which anyone seeking to remain healthy and keep fit can easily follow.
The book is educative as well as entertaining. The author uses humor in some parts of the book, which makes it even more captivating. There are also pictures of cartoons at the end of every chapter. The author presents them in a sarcastic but humorous manner. I ended up laughing after keenly observing them. There are also pictures and success stories told by individuals who have trained at Don’s gym. They are agents of encouragement to the reader that it is possible to achieve individual goals. Some of these success stories are so moving that I almost shed a tear while reading them. The author also shares his personal stories, which make the read more relatable. The book equally addresses the theme of discipline. One has to be disciplined to achieve any results as they seek to keep fit. One key lesson that I learned is that fitness is not all about being skinny. There is so much more to it than just losing fat. The book taught that patience and discipline are keys to achieving desired objectives.
The book uses simple words to describe even the most technical terms and toolbox concepts. Consequently, it makes it easy for the reader to follow through. The paragraphs are short and elaborate. The author also gives references where the readers can seek extra information on fitness and nutrition. There was nothing I disliked about the book.
I did not encounter any grammatical errors while reading this book; it was exceptionally edited. Therefore, I rate the Wellness Toolbox four out of four stars.
I would recommend this book to two groups of people. First, gym instructors because it could be a very resourceful material for improved effectiveness in their career. Second, to anyone seeking to live a healthier and more fulfilled lifestyle by keeping fit and eating healthy.
