I found Chasing A Flawed Sun really riveting from the beginning right to the very end. Daniel Mcghee truly had a very hard life, and as you read more into the book, it becomes very clear. His story is portrayed very well especially as he divulges everything about his drug paraphernalia, which is described very well in order for the reader to understand. Daniel Mcghee brings you right into his fantasy world of mobsters and mafia, so much so that you almost feel sorry for him. He writes about all his shenanigans and how he survived every day.

The last period of his life in the book was very exciting, having found the Temazcal Temple. He found a new purpose, and I was totally enthralled by his passion for everything it stood for. He found a life path that gave him purpose and in the end, he had me believing wholeheartedly that he had a mission to fulfill, which was to write his book to tell the world of his past demons and show that salvation is possible for anyone. He certainly had an amazing story to tell. The author's character growth was very moving. To begin with, his misfortune was a direct consequence of his poor decisions, but he grew, and eventually began trusting himself and respecting himself again. I would recommend this book to anyone fighting any kind of demons or anyone looking for a moving if sometimes harrowing story of daily life struggles. The cast of characters I found generally colorful, and while they tend to pop in and out of his life they provide a rich backdrop to his world.

The only negative aspect is that I felt the book could have been edited a lot better because I found quite a few errors, particularly spelling. I also found that he provided repetitive detail about incidents that happened frequently which made his way of describing things a bit predictable. However, I did think that in spite of this it was very readable and the story flowed smoothly.

I would rate this book a three out of four stars because there were some areas where the slang used was unfamiliar to me which impacted on how easy it was for me to understand. Overall I found it uplifting because it was a testament to what people endure and a positive comment on the human spirit. I found it hard to put down and very enjoyable. While the plot wasn't all that detailed, this didn't detract from how compelling the book was, and I found it interesting that his moment of epiphany came from within himself.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone that is fighting the battle with drugs or any other substance. It would also appeal to readers who enjoy a story about the triumph of human spirit. Daniel Mcghee truly highlights his plight and keeps you invested in the characters from beginning to end. There isn't much content that could offend sensitive readers, but plenty to inspire.
