Review of Selling with Presence
The book Selling with Presence by Reggie Pearse is a guide for salesmen on how to make customers buy something without feeling pressured by creating a certain selling presence. According to the author, "The magic is your presence—your ability to connect with your prospects and buyers in a way that makes them trust you enough to be transparent about their business objectives, challenges, hopes, and desires, makes them open to hearing your insights and solutions, and keeps them engaged as you navigate objections and negotiations."
The book is clearly an opener for me, it exposes certain intricacies about selling that I wasn't familiar with. The author took the time and detail to educate and enlighten his readers on certain terms and know how of sales, he wasn't in a hurry. The book, although concise, covers a great deal of facts that are quite relevant for effective sales.
One other thing that stood out for how the author related his personal experiences with sales, the introduction part of the book was solely dedicated to sharing his personal experiences and the experiences of other people that he had witnessed. Reading about the experiences that he shared in the book will make a lot of readers relate more to facts and information shared in the book.
I love how the author included quotes of profound and renowned authors like David Sandler, Daniel Goleman, Zig Ziglar and Daniel Pink. He did not cite authors that are only into sales or make reference only to facts about sales, he quoted people in different fields, not just sales. This spiced up the content of the book, making it more enriching.
The author is an experienced and professional salesman. He wrote the book out of the depth of wisdom and experience. He wasn't just writing in theory or facts for knowledge's sake. The contents of the book offers step by step process and practical examples. The book wasn't designed to be rush-read, it was designed as a guide, to practice as you read. The author also included certain repetition to help the reader retain the facts discussed in the book. This is what I love most about the book.
There's absolutely nothing that I disliked about the book.
The editors did a good job and deserves an applause, I only found two errors in the book. I'd give the book a four out of four stars. I'd recommend the book to career salesmen, especially novices and amateurs in the field.
