It requires passion, committing to a particular aspect of life, and working endlessly to produce the best results possible. The exact emotion I could feel from the book written by Michael C. Higgins, Ph.D. In his book, Exploring Wine Regions – Bordeaux France, Michael has explicitly explained each and everything about Bordeaux. And as per my knowledge, there is hardly anything he missed. The wine culture, the adventure, food, and fun of the place. He has meticulously provided detailed maps. Can you imagine an author specifically marking maps with minute details to guide people? Michael has done that, so every time you miss the path. Just take a look and see where to go. In his book, he talks about the importance of terroir in the wines produced in the Bordeaux region. The implementation by the people living there, concerning this characteristic to produce remarkable wines, is worth understanding. The science, the history, It’s all fascinating. The wines thus produced are the epitome of goodness and peace felt in every sip from the glass. He visits multiple Châteaux for over three years and presents remarkable information along with spectacular photographs highlighting the exquisite beauty of Bordeaux.

The best part is that throughout the book, you can find knowledge on both history and science. The efforts behind the success of these wines produced are worth appreciating. The story shared by the Owners of the Châteaux intrigues curiosity. How it all started, what all changes happened. The history of the magnificent Castles. Of many interesting theories, I found the story of one of the Châteaux wherein the owner inculcated music to activate the immune system. Awaking, the immune system of vineyard with the help of music? That is something riveting to read about. Michael has incorporated many such stories in the book. These personal touches make the book even more special.

I liked almost everything. So it was a task to find what I couldn’t like in this book. The book gives a very elaborate explanation of the traveling process, including food joints, shopping, and everything. But what it lacks is the food acknowledgment for the vegan people. I can plan a whole trip based on the recommendations about wine and traveling tips. But when it came to food, I was a little unsure being a Vegan. But I guess I can always find something when I reach the place. And maybe the Châteaux and Restaurants that offered customized food would help me with it.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I can’t give stars in points, or I would have marked more than just three stars. And this book definitely can't go below three. I can’t give it a total of four because I loved this book and want Michael to add something related to vegetarian/vegan food. I want to know if we have good options out there.

This book is for anyone interested in traveling. Of course, learning about the various wines found in a different region adds to the interest. The light humour makes this book more delightful than it already is. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore and feel the serenity in the process.
