We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies presents the readers with a map at the beginning of the book. This map shows the layout of the places which will be mentioned in the book, giving the reader an idea of these places and the distance between them. I consider this a brilliant idea.

This book is the first book in the We are Voulhire series. Although it can be read on its own, it's not really a stand-alone book as it is a stepping stone for the next book in the series, so, you would have to read the other books in the series to understand the whole idea that the book is trying to convey.

In this book, Matthew Tysz narrates the story of the young man, Galen Bray. Before his great uncle died, he made Bray the heir to Onita Steel, his forge. This presented Gray with an opportunity to leave the war-ravaged Land of Princes. Having lived two decades in the Land of Princes and witnessed the ongoing civil war for the most part of his life, Galen Bray could not have been more excited at the opportunity to leave the Land of the Princes for good and move to the Kingdom of Voulhire.

A parallel story to the story of Galen Bray and his savior uncle, Galen Onita, is the story of the new Lord and powerful mage, Meldorath. Having acquired the status of lordship through a coup d'état of Lord Orlin, the reigning leader of the city of Hillport, he disappears and is announced dead by King Wilhelm of Voulhire. However, there are rumors that he lives on. Perhaps this is not the last they will all hear of him.

This book is well written and filled with suspense. It was written from the perspective of several characters and this gave it a unique feel. Although I have read the second book in this series so I knew what to expect, this book was nevertheless thrilling and Matthew impressed me.

This book is no doubt a really good read; however, the relationship between the story of Meldorath and Galen Bray is not clear. It might have readers wondering. While one might understand better if one read the other books in the series, some readers might find this style of writing discouraging.

This book is well written, it has a great plot and interesting characters. It is also professionally edited. With all these properties listed, I see no reason not to give this book all the points it can get. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of fiction. I also recommend it to people who love books with sequels.
