Review of The Devil's Eclipse
The Devil's Eclipse by Christopher Williams is an anthology of strange tales, unnatural beings, and bizarre occurrences. The genre of the book is Sci-Fi and Fantasy. This book is a collection of eight chapters and one of them is a hidden chapter so, the sequence of a hidden chapter is not revealed to you at first. Dedication and preface are well created by the author and he tried to relate this book with triple 6 which is the devil's number. he believes in the existence of evil. According to him, evil tries to control the earth when the moon is not complete. Stories have no connection between them. length of the stories are appropriate and the pattern is perfect for readers who don't have time.
The cover of the book is perfectly suitable and creative. you will be introduced to multiple characters such as Admiral who likes his job title in the U.S.Navy more than his name. or George who was tortured by his cousins just because his colour was dark. some stories are not explained completely such as "Black Magic" in which the business owner Mr Winslow was facing strange problems because of some thieves. or "A shadow in a corner" in which one couple Marlene and Frank notice a warm and dark shadow in their house. The Book has a hidden chapter " Infestation" which is based on a father and a Five years old daughter's life. I especially like that all the stories are completely different from each other. my favourite chapter is "The Back Closet" cause the closet was scary. However "Tasty treat" is just a light read.
In some stories, you don't get clarity or a complete explanation. The chapter "Spiderman" is difficult to understand so, you easily get confused. Grammar and spelling mistakes are average. Sometimes a detailed description of the negative character or creature is disturbed the flow of the story instead of adding a horror effect and that makes it less scary.
So, because of these all reasons I deducted one star from the rating, however, the base of the stories and characters are strong. I like horror and thriller and I enjoyed this book so, rating of The Devil's eclipse according to me is " three out of four stars".
Many of the stories contain a lot of abusive and disturbing content.so, I do not recommend this book to younger readers or people who are sensitive cause it includes sexual content and profanity. I recommend this book for a horror audience or for those readers who like Sci-Fi and Fantasy books based on haunted incidents. So, as the author said...Turn the page and enter The Devil's Eclipse.
