The FBI Inspector is a compilation of 25 short stories, written by Jay Dubya. These stories follow FBI Inspector Joe Giralo and his trusty agents Sal Verdi, Dan Blachford, and Art Orsi as they shed light on many an unsolved mystery. From an attempted assassination to bombings, abductions, hidden diamonds and killer bees, the team follows every inconspicuous lead to astutely solve each complicated case.

I liked that the stories were short and could be read quickly. The plots have potential, but are spoilt through clumsy presentation.

The author provides a lot of unnecessary and irrelevant information that distracts from the plot. The stories get lost in the detail. There is very little suspense and hardly any build-up to a climax. The case is presented, and Inspector Giralo provides all the clues, interprets most of them and solves the mystery. The author does not provide enough information to enable the reader to partake in the process. Generally speaking, a lot of irrelevant information is presented and in a short space of time, at the end, the reader is presented with all the leads and the solution to the crime. Mostly agents Verdi, Blachford and Orsi are as much in the dark as the reader and don't seem to be of much use. Many of the stories are also left hanging and are not brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

I came across many grammatical errors, especially regarding the proper use of commas, as well as a few typographical errors. The names of movies have not been italicized, neither have the names of songs been put in quotations. This detracted from the enjoyment of reading this book. A good edit wouldn't do any harm.

Considering the lack of suspense, the mass of irrelevant detail, and the frequent grammatical errors I have no choice but to rate this book 1 out of 4 stars.

I didn't come across any profanity or explicit scenes, so apart from the grammatical errors, it is safe for anyone to read. If you enjoy mystery stories, you might enjoy this book.
