Review of Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In
Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In by Harold Toliver is a novel about myths and reasons why people have confidence in myths. People preserve their actions using myths as a good reason to prove or show what they think is right. This novel talks of various ways myths have been influenced by religion and history. The author also clearly has Witten his suggestion about myth. This novel mainly focuses its arguments on religion which causes different reactions. The writer narrates that religion has caused fear of the unknown and false conception and causation, leading to societal division. It is the leading cause of confusion in the society of the twentieth century and the significant cause of terrorism. Religion has led to conflicts. The author also talks of how Hitler employed myth on the people, leading to war. The war almost wiped all the Jews who were living in Europe. The author has also cited his research and referenced it at the end of the novel.
The author of this novel has employed well to understand and clear with points language. The author's topic in this novel has made me use all means, including using the dictionary, to correctly understand the content being presented to me as a reader. Even though Researching reduced my reading speed, I later returned to my pace after fixing myself to what this novel atmosphere's needed. Critical emphasis was also an essential part that this novel needed from me so that I can have an ability to differentiate the author's critics and what he supports.
The amount of information in this novel makes it resourceful to a reader; hence, I like it most. While reading, I realized that something in this life that I thought was true was just a total illusion in my mind. After reading this novel, I will start considering facts rather than my personal feeling. I will start doing things with an open mind. I have also been educated to be critical in my thinking.
Nevertheless, what I dislike about this novel is how it scrutinizes religion. The content is presented in this novel; as a reader, I can say that the author is not practicing any form of religion. As a reader, you can be confused if you become too serious with the myth and theories.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this novel. I will award this novel a 4 out of 4 stars. It is professionally edited, and the use of profane words is absent. I did not notice any grammar or typing errors. The reason why I gave this rating is that the author cites and references his researched work. I will recommend this novel to curious readers and middle-aged adults.
