The Genex of Halcyon book by Joshua Stelling is a story of the future. This story takes place in the year 2051 which is a factor that pulls the reader into the story. The story revolves around the characters that are interesting and stay with us.

Joshua Stelling's poetic mind and love for music and songs reflected in the story which made the story more like poetry. The description of each scene is detailed and sets the mood to dive into the story. Such a wonderful description about the climate and the surroundings, just fell in love with it even though it is a dystopian future.

The creative possibilities of how our world might be turned into being one of the absorbing factors. The imagination of future technologies was marvelous. For instance, the concepts revolved around bots. The segments with the romantic part were seducing and left us wanting more.

There were childhood flashbacks that showed the characters' connections when they were young. But it was disappointing that this did not help the reader connect with the characters more. Some scenes could have been clearly explained, it was hard to visualize. The conversation with two people was confusing as there was no mentioning of who said that dialogue. As more poetic and descriptive the story was, it was surfeit at some point. Eventually, the narration does feel like a diversion from the real plotline.

I could not get hold of the concept and where the story goes. The continuity from one part to the next could have been clearer. The story needs good editing in some aspects. There were no surprising elements or twists in the story. I also felt like it was a little bit dragged out and it could have gone faster.

The story was lyrical and expressive. The new possible future technologies introduced in the story were impressive. But Is it a page-turner? Does this story make us come back to it? I did not get that feeling. I also thought that the complete story does not justify the SciFi genre. For that, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars.

Genex of Halcyon by Joshua Stelling is a book that has both ups and downs. Would I recommend it for others to read it? I would say that this book is only for the people who have a lot more patience. This story is also for the admirers of nature and has a demonstrative storyline. This book might be taken as a young adult category which makes the perfect audience with the age above 17. This book is recommended mainly for the fans who see the world more poetic.
