Review of Fish Wielder
[Following is a volunteer review of "Fish Wielder" by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison.]
J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison has written a novel called by the name of Fish Wielder. It is an epic fantasy novel combined with comedy that will leave the reader speechless.
In this mystical world, you will meet the protagonist and his friends. These characters are well-developed and realistic. Fish Wielder known as Thoral Mighty Fist is the story’s hero and loves to have a drink when he feels depressed. He often feels depressed and lonely. Thoral loves adventures and using his sword and fists whenever he can. His friend and companion on these adventures is a Koi fish named Brad. However, Brad can’t swim; he is a talking Koi fish.
Thoral’s horse has tiger stripes and can also speak. His name is Worlordhorse and a trusted friend of Thoral's. Worlordhorse can smell danger. In an adventure to save an elven princess that is gluten intolerant, and to find the healing pudding, these characters have to overcome an evil character and a team of Pooja Assassins. True to their personalities, they undertake each challenge with commitment as warriors.
This is one of the best satirical novels that I have ever read. It is witty, meticulous and well-plotted. I love the protagonist's dialogue. The way he attempts to find the correct word, and Brad’s always being ready with the correct suggestion, intrigues me. The two characters are an excellent combination to makes you laugh.
The villains are developed with qualities of fear and passion and are goal orientated. These character traits make for an interesting novel. The events moved at a decent pace, allowing the reader to enjoy the experience. From the first page until the conclusion, I have found the novel thrilling and something different to other fantasy novels.
Overall, I found the novel entertaining and unique. One could understand and sympathizes with the characters’ personalities, feelings and expectations. The author's J.R.R.R. Hardison’s character building was impressive. Some chapters contained hilarious events that make the book more entertaining. The reader will find the concluding chapter amazing. The plot leaves the possibility of a next novel, and I love the storyline. It intertwines itself with the amazing characters, and there is nothing I disliked about this book.
I rate Fish Wielder 4 out of 4 stars, and enjoyed the book immensely, especially the last few chapters. The novel contains a brief romance with kissing. The book was extremely well-edited. I did not find any grammar or spelling errors. All readers young and old that love fiction, fantasy mixed with romance and epic adventures will enjoy reading this novel.
