R.F. Kristi's Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a children's book and the eighth book in the Diary of a Snoopy Cat: The Inca Detective series. This installment continues to follow the team led by Detective Inca. This time, they have to journey to South Korea, as their human owner, Mom, has been chosen as a judge in the French patisserie competition. She hopes to seize this opportunity to present her special cheese as well. Like all books in this installment, there is no shortage of adventure, and there is also stiff competition in the form of Enzo, a cheese chef who would go to any length to sabotage Mom's business for his gain. What do Inca and company have up their sleeves to tackle this problem?

This was quite an enjoyable read. Even though it is the eighth book in the series, a quick introduction to the family from the main character, Inca, will help readers know who they are and what they do. We meet not just the fun and full-of-life Inca but also the energetic Fromage, the intelligent Monk, and Terrance the brave dog, among others. Children will find it easy to connect to these characters that complement each others' strengths, which is what makes the agency so successful across the world.

There is also the injection of suspense in the story, especially when Mom's cheese went missing and when they had to cross the "Korean Demilitarized Zone" between North and South Korea to find and bring their friend back to South Korea. Children will be kept at the edge of their seats and will also learn from their spirit of togetherness displayed in the story. Whether this would be enough to achieve their aim will be revealed if you pick up a copy of this delightful read.

A lot of effort was put into including illustrations of many aspects of the book. The characters, the cheese, cooking items, a traditional South Korean house, and more were colorfully illustrated, bringing the story to life perfectly. I did not encounter any errors while reading as well, which indicated that the book was exceptionally edited.

Overall, I had fun with this book and found the story engaging and suspenseful. The only criticism I have is that there are two different plots that can be separated to create two different books, as this one is a bit lengthy for a children's book. Nevertheless, this did not affect my reading too much. Therefore, I rate this book four out of four stars. Children between the ages of four and eight will enjoy this book, especially if they enjoy solving mysteries.
